It is almost that time of year again! This is the second time that I will be participating in Wyrd & Wonder, and I am very excited about it. Of course the countdown posts that I wanted to have up leading into May are going to be late, but that’s also on brand so….

If you are new to this and you have no idea what I’m talking about, please feel free to check out Imyril’s blog, the Wyrd & Wonder twitter or Instagram for more information or to sign up!

As the title suggests, todays post is about the top 5 fantasy books that I’ve read since the last Wyrd & Wonder.

Skin and Bones by Susan Harris- This is the first book in an urban fantasy about Dr. Ever Chace who believes that she is a human raised by two supernatural parents. But dreams and the appearance of familiar people that she doesn’t -or at least shouldn’t – know causes her to begin to question this. This has everything that I love – a serial killer to hunt down, all sorts of supernaturals and their supernatural problems, a bit of romance, humor and mythology (Norse) mixed in.

Blood of the Lost by Shannon Mayer – This is the final book in the Rylee Adams series, an urban fantasy about someone who is very good at finding lost children. It has everything that I love and the story is compelling that I pretty much binged the entire ten book series. And the characters, oh man I wish my circle of friends was as amazing as these characters.

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming – This fantasy is about a town who sends its heroes out to battle demons but none returns. While being a hero should be something to be respected it’s also a role that no one wants. Then the truth is revealed that the goddess that town worships is actually a witch enslaving demons. A quest, found family and humor and banter that will have you laughing out loud.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff- This is the first book that my bookclub read this year and it was is much better than I expected. Gabriel de Leon is not the hero that everyone is looking for, but he proves to be an enemy that no one wants. This is the first in a trilogy and the way that Kristoff has written the story is both aggravating and compelling.

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Mass – This is the first in Maas’ urban fantasy series and it’s also the first book of hers that I’ve enjoyed. (To be fair, I only read the first book in the Throne of Glass series). And yes I cheated because this is one that I just recently finished. But oh well. Bryce has quickly become one of my favorite characters, and I can’t wait to see her grow into the bada$$ that I hope she does.

Well, this is my first Top 5 post, and hopefully you’ll see the next 4 before Wyrd & Wonder starts. If you are looking to celebrate all of the fantasy- join us. If you need ideas or want to increase your TBR, follow along and see what everyone is reading and recommending.
